| What benefits will I get from digital television? |
Digital television provides vastly improved picture and sound quality, including widescreen pictures and digital audio, including radio broadcasts. Digital Television allows the broadcast of HD programmes to allow you to get better value from your larger screen televisions in the same way you get better definition pictures from Blu Ray over standard DVD or old VHS tapes. Digital television also offers the benefits of more channels and content. For example, there are additional channels from TVNZ on 6 and news and documentaries on 7 and the TV3 Plus which allows you to watch TV3 with a 1 hour delay. There are also some regional broadcasters who provide a signal nationwide via the satellite option. Gradually, there will be new digital channels and content introduced with the most recent being the addition of Stratos to all of the Freeview digital platform.
