Question Answer
I have Sky or Vodafone or I am planning to subscribe – what do I need to do? If your Sky TV or Vodafone package provides access to some or all of the free-to-air channels, you'll still be able to watch these through your Sky decoder provided the broadcasters continue to allow their signals to be carried by Sky or Vodafone. However, you may not be able to access all the free-to-air channels in high definition unless your set top box is enabled to do so and the signal is transmitted by Sky or Vodafone in Full HD.
So if you want to see the high definition local channels available in your area when coverage exists, you may need to connect a separate set top box (if your TV is analog) or get a TV with a built-in digital tuner. If you are already subscribing or planning to subscribe to a subscription Sky or Vodafone, you should check whether you will be able to receive those high definition programmes through that service if that is what you want.
Note: Sky is moving all of its signals to HD with a progressive rollout upgrade of its older satellite decoders.
